In this brave new world we’re living in, micro-weddings has become a bit of a buzz word. Big number Weddings have been criticized in the press by many much to the dismay of many of the talented creatives who like me put their heart and soul into creating our clients dream weddings.
I read these kind of opinion articles with huge sadness, as I think of my lovely clients who have this year have made big decisions about whether to put their plans and dreams on hold, or make a call to go for it anyway and compromise. I’m supportive of both sides of the fence, and the fence itself and all sizes of Wedding. Whether the industry is in a bit of a flux or not, one thing I’m clear on is that however many guests you’re able to invite to your big day, it is still your Wedding, and it will remain incredibly special. The celebration of love and a union of two people joining forces however small is really incredible thing however big or small the final bill.
Love this year is not cancelled, in fact it’s all the more important. We need these lovely things to keep us going and feeling special. Last week I had the absolute pleasure of delivering flowers for the Wedding of Mr and Mrs Birch. I was recommended by the beautiful venue South Downs Manor, near Petersfield. Bride Jane and I got to know one another over the phone and email, and were excited to meet in person (at a distance) on her Wedding Day.
Jane have me the prettiest of briefs – soft pale tones with a vintage feel – I chose to use vintage style blush Roses, scented Freesia, Eucalyptus, plus an old favourite of mine Gypsophilia. I lifted this little mix of flowers with a touch of Mimosa, and felt honoured to include a dried Peony from Jane’s Mother’s Garden. All flowers were tied with handmade silk ribbon dyed by me, and presented in little glass jars, vases and a vintage milk churn. Flowers were supplied to decorate the entrance, lounge around, cake and U shaped tables for a Wedding Party of 15 guests. Jane wrote to me this week to say:
“They were all perfect and my bouquet was simply stunning. Everyone commented on the lovely roses and arrangements and some of the guests took the flowers home. My bouquet has taken pride of place in our hallway. You made our special day even more special”
I’m so glad Mr and Mrs Birch enjoyed the most wonderful day. I genuinely can’t wait to work on the next wedding and spread a bit more flowery joy.
